let's get to the accuweather alert. meteorologist bill evans has the first look at the forecast. >> looking at rainfall amounts, we have seen the rainfall amounts a couple of attemptths to a quarter inch around city. further south 1/2 inch of rain. 73 degrees with more rain on the way. 73 montclair and hanover. temperatures are mild. warm for the overnight hours want f effect until 4:00 this afternoon. the yellow areas is heavy downpours inside the rain shield. that's where you can get problems 95, connecticut, westchester, rockland county. we will be drenched by daybreak. weather and traffic every seven minutes. that has an effect on the roadways. >> we have two problems on the bruckner. one southbound near country
one near white plains road another accident is being cleared away. then as we take a look at the l.i.e., this is construction closed between exit 40 and 41. all lanes are closed until 5:30. we hope to get that cleared way within the hour. we have the northern state parkway, good way to go and mass transit is fine. a great idea for this morning, street cleaning rules are in effect. >> heather, thank you. we continue our live team commute. amy freeze is live in hoboken with a look at the conditions there. amy? >> reporter: flash flood watch in the entire area. hoboken is included in that. this is an area sensitive to rainfall, especially when the rain comes down too quickly in such a short amount of time. right now a steady rainfall. that is what is happening in the overnight hours. earlier this week we had a
hoboken, less than an inch of rain. the good news, this morning so far no problems at all. the rain is taking its time coming down. we are expecting up to an inch before it's said and done mid- morning. two pumping stations are operational in the days that will give [ inaudible ] since hurricane sandy happened. we are monitoring things with accutrack to see how the rain comes in making sure it comes in, takes it time. we haven't had a lot of rain in the month of july. if we could get moisture, that is good news. we will monitor the situation throughout the morning. live in hoboken, meteorologist amy freeze, channel 7 eyewitness news. >> thank you.

accutrack radar. heavy downpour of rain in a small area. a lot of rain in a small amount of time, too in a small area. a flash flood watch in effect today watching out for these areas like that. you see the roadways at the intersection of columbus avenue and west 6th street, ponding on roadways, 72, 73 smithtown, brookhaven. low 70s to 66 at monticello. some of these visibilities are low. white plains miles. some of these airports like teterboro and white plains you could have delays here. here you have the flash flood watch until 4:00. that's because heavy rain is coming down. you see the cell over the five boroughs that drifted across staten island. now that is heading to elmhurst queens. that is on the van wyck, from the grand central and right across the area continuing as we go into this morning commute and ending about midday. then in the afternoon we
and humid weather. we are keeping an eye out for flooding. amy freeze over to hobokenment what is the latest? ments a lot of you know one of the most predictable spots to get flooding. too much rain too quickly. we are seeing the water flow on the curbs. this is one of the first signs at madison and tenth street. this is typical spot between shop rite and jeff son's earlier this week, monday, 15 manholes were dislodged because of the flooding. folks that park on the street see it too many times where they have their cars overtaken with water with one inch of rainfall. the good news for hoboken, august 1st the pumping stations they are working towards and waiting for since hurricane sandy are finally going to be functional. that is happening in august.

70s around the five boroughs. up the hudson river valley. 74 poughkeepsie. a little wind. not a lot. some out of the northwest. some of it is coming into the shore, into the south shore and into the jersey shore. visibility is low now. a mile now around the park. that kind of slows things down because of the rain and visibility. some of the area airports have low visibilities, too. teterboro another. heather is on top of that, talking to the pilots and people in the flight control towers. this heavy rainfall is popping up here right toward -- heading at whitestone and throgs neck bridge. so, that will cause problems there. heather will talk about that. this will run right up the i-95 corridor here. it will run right up i-95 and hit 287 and 684. so, that is a heavy rain shower right now.
it. i have the lightning meter turned on. right at the beginning of the l.i.e. to the van wyck here, northern boulevard. flooding rain right now. that will keep cutting across toward northern nassau county. it will run through great neck and manhattan and keep heading toward connecticut. then behind that, sunny breaks. then the next system to the west in the great lakes. in between systems on saturday. here is futurecast. here. the cell pushes to bridgeport by 8:00. then rain long island in the city and southwestment by noontime, you see the rain ending and the sun will break out. fast forward and look to saturday. there you see rain mostly west and north on saturday. it looks like eastern end of long island, jersey shore and coastal connecticut escapes that saturday and off and on
